Clean, crisp and comfortable are the keys to a seaside home in Miami

INSPIRED BY THE SEA, SKY AND SHORELINE VIEWS, DESIGNER MICHAEL WOLK, of Michael Wolk Design, devised a light and bright palette for an oceanfront townhouse in Miami Beach. Modern sensibility blends seamlessly with a reverence for the lush natural environment in this contemporary waterfront home.

Beginning right at the base, the home is a reflection of the natural elements visible through its full walls of windows. Light oak flooring mimics the sand, as do textiles used in upholstery and carpets; white walls throughout allow the bright energy of the coastal location to shine in full force; and a large fish tank in the dining room brings the ocean itself inside. The well-appointed kitchen is a sleek, modern marvel whose clean lines and palette pose no interference with the colorful view. Smooth-faced, crisp white cabinets are contrasted only by stainless steel appliances and counter seating allows for a gathering place while meals are being prepared. At every turn in this carefully planned space, the surrounding natural environment is welcomed as the main attraction and various design decisions, notably a striking use of glass for walls, partitions, desktops, and even stair treads, allows for unobstructed immersion in the tranquil surroundings.

The sleek kitchen offers ample space for prep work and for guests as well.
