A Company that Makes Design Matter

Coveted Online | November 2019

Michael Wolk is a Miami based designer who created his own design firm in 1971 with a specific type of philosophy in mind: Making Design Matter! From the 70s to today, the design company has been holding on to this thought, which allowed them to conquer an incredible reputation in Miami. Coveted Magazine is about to introduce you to the legacy that Wolk managed to create both in architecture as well as luxury interior design.

Ever since its creation in the 70s, there’s no doubt that Michael Wolk Design has managed to make himself and his company unique among the architecture and interior design areas within the USA. All of this definitely has to do with his unique take on more than one industry: the firm has tackled Interior Design, Furniture Design, and even a couple of Art Projects led by Wolk himself. What makes this company unique in a way is their work philosophy, best explained by the head himself:

“Our creative process doesn’t end in thought or discussion – it ends in creation. Every idea is developed to its fullest potential here, rather than passed off to someone else. Design is what we make. Anyone can create something functional, and anyone can create something beautiful – but true design will always accomplish both.” – Michael Wolk Design

Michael Wolk Design has the tactical advantage of having a staff of professionals from several areas of architecture and design. Such a team is one of the main factors that has allowed the company to produce a series of incredible projects for several clients from several places throughout several areas aside from the United States and Europe, having its fingerprints on areas such as Latin America and the Caribbean.

Such a reputation has definitely earned Michael Wolk Design a couple of honors. Some of the most recent awards the firm has received which are worth mentioning are definitely the award in the Best In Wood competition in 2017 for with their Porsche Design Tower Bar, as well as the Good Design Award that same year for their Biscayne Chair.

The thought that moves Michael Wolk to this day is definitely felt years later. Aside from his work philosophy, which comes off as one of the most striking aspects of his style, above all, the designer is also a person who, in his own words, stays true to his work. His works have incredible quality and beauty because he lets design control the energy. “Design is design; everything else is everything else.”
